Eco village Nevidio is placed 450 meters away from the main road which leads from Bay of Kotor through Žabljak to Belgrade. It is located in the beautiful village Pošćenje, 22 kilometers away from Žabljak, the center of North of Montenegro. Eco village Nevidio is the last station before the famous canyon Nevidio, the last conquered canyon in Europe.
The founder of Eco village Nevidio is famous alpinist, rescuer at Montenegrin Mountain Rescue service and passionate mountaineer Dragan Gašo Lalović, who looked at the world from the highest mountain peaks. He conquered the world’s highest mountain tops such as Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, Gloss Glockner, Aconcagua, Ararat, Pamir and all significant tops in Balkan.
Also, he was the technical leader of the 1st Montenegrin expedition to Mt. Everest back in 1996, when eight people caught in a blizzard, died during the attempts to descend from the summit. The 1996 disaster gained wide publicity since it took life of two great alpinist Rob Hall and Scott Fischer. Realizing the storm was coming, Gašo decided to not allow further climbing of his crew, bringing them back to station when they were just 40m under the top, saving the lives of all his crew. The day later, in Nepal, he was rewarded as the “hero of the day”. The story about the Everest disaster is described in the bestselling non- fiction book “Into thin air’ written by Jon Krakauer.
